Captain Angela Chiarapa

 

    Captain Angela Chiarappa was raised in Charlottesville, Virginia and began her Law Enforcement career as a dispatcher for the Charlottesville Police Department in 1983. Less then one month after turning 21 years old, she was hired as a police officer for the Albemarle County Police Department. She stayed there until moving to Oklahoma in 1987.

 

    She began her career for the Lawton Police Department in September 1987. She has been assigned to the uniform division as a patrol officer and Field Training officer. She was instrumental in forming the police department’s first bicycle patrol unit in which she was a member. While assigned to the training division, she was certified as an Advanced Instructor and was a DARE officer. She has also worked in CID as a Detective and the Special Operations Division as a Gang Task Force officer.

 

    She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1997 and was assigned as a patrol supervisor and worked as the Training Division Commander.  On May 28, 2001

she made police department history as the first female promoted to the rank of Captain. She is currently assigned to the uniform division as a Watch Commander. She is a proud parent of one daughter named “Riley”.
