Charlie Team

Charlie Team is a dayshift team that works from 0630 hours (6:30AM) to 1630 hours (4:30PM). Their scheduled days off are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The Charlie Team's Watch Commander is Captain Cliff Blasengame and his Lieutenants are Lt. James Johnson and Lt. John Schwenk.



Captain Blasengame was promoted to the rank of Captain in January 2013. He began his career with the Lawton Police Department on 27 November 1989. After serving in many different assignments, he was promoted to Lieutenant on 23 April 2007 and is currently assigned to patrol division as a Patrol Supervisor. Prior to his promotion to Lieutenant, Captain Blasengame was assigned as a Patrol Officer, Narcotic/Vice investigator for the Special Operations Unit, Detective for the Criminal Investigation Unit and a Technical investigator for the Criminal Investigation Unit. He has also been assigned to Special Teams to include the Lawton Police Tactical Unit as a sniper, Honor Guard and numerous special assignments to target crime within the City. Currently, Captain Blasengame is the Chairman of the Policy Board and in charge of the MDT/OLETS for Uniform Division.

Captain Blasengame is also a 30 year veteran with the Oklahoma army National Guard. He has deployed is support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm and has also served two tours in support of Iraqi Freedom. His current rank with the National Guard is Command Sergeant Major.

Lieutenant John Schwenk, Jr. was born and raised in Lawton, OK. He attended MacArthur High School and obtained a degree from Cameron University. Schwenk began his career with the Lawton Police Department on May 3rd, 1999. He served in the Uniform Division for over 11 years. During that time, Schwenk was utilized for several years as a Traffic Officer. He attended Traffic Collision training as well as DUI enforcement training that included him accomplishing certification as a DRE (Drug recognition Expert) through IACP. The following year Schwenk became a DRE Instructor. Schwenk was also a member of the Department’s Bike Patrol Team.

In September of 2010, Schwenk became a Detective and was reassigned to the (CID) Criminal Investigation Division. Schwenk was soon designated as one of the Divisions Fraud/White Collar Investigators, primarily investigating those specified cases for about 2 ½ years, until he was designated as the Divisions Audio/Video Forensic Investigator. While in CID, Schwenk investigated all kinds of cases, ranging from Petit Larceny to Murder.

Schwenk is a member of the Departments Crisis Negotiation Team. He has also been utilized extensively as a Field Training Officer to help train new officers.

Lt. Johnson joined the Lawton Police Department in February 1992. He has worked in Patrol Division and Narcotics in his career with the Lawton Police Department. He was a member of the Tactical Unit from 1997 to 2007 on the entry team but his primary job was that of a sniper. In 2007 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he was assigned to patrol and as motorcycle supervisor for a short period.

Lt. Johnson earned a B.S degree from Ahab’s Institute of Motorcycle technology in 1987, specializing in Harley-Davidson repair, a B.A degree from Cameron University in Criminal Justice in 1990, a M.A degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Oklahoma City University in 1992 and a B.S degree in Funeral Service from The University of Central Oklahoma in 2005. He is also licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer by the State of Oklahoma and nationally board certified by The International Conference of Funeral Service. He works as a Funeral Director in his spare time.

Lt. Johnson is a Mason and has been a member of Mt. Scott Masonic Lodge 540 in Lawton since 1996 and is a member of The Guthrie Scottish Rite as a 32nd degree Mason since 1997.
