Charlie Team

Charlie Team is a dayshift team that works from 0630 hours (6:30AM) to 1630 hours (4:30PM). Their scheduled days off are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The Charlie Team's Watch Commander is Captain Cliff Blasengame and his Lieutenants are Lt. Donnie Hanson and Lt. Mark Mason.

 

 

Captain Blasengame was promoted to the rank of Captain in January 2013. He began his career with the Lawton Police Department on 27 November 1989. After serving in many different assignments, he was promoted to Lieutenant on 23 April 2007 and is currently assigned to patrol division as a Patrol Supervisor. Prior to his promotion to Lieutenant, Captain Blasengame was assigned as a Patrol Officer, Narcotic/Vice investigator for the Special Operations Unit, Detective for the Criminal Investigation Unit and a Technical investigator for the Criminal Investigation Unit. He has also been assigned to Special Teams to include the Lawton Police Tactical Unit as a sniper, Honor Guard and numerous special assignments to target crime within the City. Currently, Captain Blasengame is the Chairman of the Policy Board and in charge of the MDT/OLETS for Uniform Division.

Captain Blasengame is also a 30 year veteran with the Oklahoma army National Guard. He has deployed is support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm and has also served two tours in support of Iraqi Freedom. His current rank with the National Guard is Command Sergeant Major.

Lt. Mason was hired by the Lawton Police Department in April of 2007. He attended the CLEET Police Academy in Ada Oklahoma. After the Academy and four months of the Field Training Officer Program Lt. Mason was assigned to the Patrol Division. In 2010 he received the Uniform Officer of the year Award. In October of 2008 he become a traffic officer for Echo Team and later went to Frank Team as a traffic officer. In December of 2011 when the department added traffic cars to the motor unit; Lt. Mason was one of two officers selected for this assignment. During his time in Traffic he became an operator for the Total Station which is used to make an electronic drawing of an accident or crime scene and he also worked beside the accident reconstruction in numerous fatality accidents.

After just a short time in the motor unit an opening became available in the Criminal Investigation Division and in January of 2012 he was accepted into CID. During his time in CID he attended numerous training schools to include Midwest Counterdrug Training Center's interview and Interrogation School and a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) School.

Lt. Masonis a department Instructor and has assisted in the academy for the traffic section. Lt. Mason was promoted to Lieutenant in February of 2014. He is also the current Vice-president for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 98.

Lt. Hanson started working in law enforcement in 1984 as the Chief of Police in Medicine Park from 1984 to 1986. He attended the CLEET Basic Police Academy in 1984. Lt. Hanson started working for the city of Lawton Lake Patrol in 1986 and worked the lakes until 1992. In 1992 he transferred in to the Lawton Police Dept Uniform Patrol Division. In 1996 he started working as a traffic officer until transferred to the Training Division in 2001. He worked in training until his promotion to Lieutenant in 2006.

After his promotion, Lt. Hanson went back to patrol until being transfered back to Training. In January 2013, Lt. Hanson transferred back to the Patrol Division. In 2008, the Lawton Police Department was approved by CLEET to hold our own Police Academy and in 2008 we put on our first Basic Police Academy in 16 years. The department has held at least one academy every year since 2008, training not only Lawton Police Officers but also Lawton Fire Marshalls and Fire Chiefs and Fort Sill Police.
