Adam Team

Adam Team is a midnight shift team that works from 2100 hours (9:00PM) to 0700 hours (7:00AM). Their scheduled days off are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday but due to their work hours, they actually are off Saturday night, Sunday night and Monday night. The Adam Team's Watch Commander is Captain Ronnie Smith Jr. and his Lieutenants are Lt. Mark Mason and Lt. John Schwenk.



Captain Ronnie Smith Jr. was born in Lawton, Oklahoma where he graduated from Macarthur High School and Cameron University with an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. Captain Smith began his career with the Lawton Police Department in September of 1997. Smith spent several years in the patrol division, serving on the bike team and as a field training officer as well as earning his advanced CLEET certification.

In 2001, Captain Smith was assigned as one half of a two man unit working the zone one area as part of the police department’s effort to clean up crime in the area. In 2002, Smith was assigned as a detective in the Special Operations section working Narcotics and Vice Operations.

In June of 2005 Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as a patrol supervisor. Captain Smith was promoted to the rank of Captain in December 2010, where he serves as a uniform division Watch Commander, the department’s Quartermaster, and an intoxilyzer supervisor.

Lt. Mason was hired by the Lawton Police Department in April of 2007. He attended the CLEET Police Academy in Ada Oklahoma. After the Academy and four months of the Field Training Officer Program Lt. Mason was assigned to the Patrol Division. In 2010 he received the Uniform Officer of the year Award. In October of 2008 he become a traffic officer for Echo Team and later went to Frank Team as a traffic officer. In December of 2011 when the department added traffic cars to the motor unit; Lt. Mason was one of two officers selected for this assignment. During his time in Traffic he became an operator for the Total Station which is used to make an electronic drawing of an accident or crime scene and he also worked beside the accident reconstruction in numerous fatality accidents.

After just a short time in the motor unit an opening became available in the Criminal Investigation Division and in January of 2012 he was accepted into CID. During his time in CID he attended numerous training schools to include Midwest Counterdrug Training Center's interview and Interrogation School and a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI) School.

Lt. Masonis a department Instructor and has assisted in the academy for the traffic section. Lt. Mason was promoted to Lieutenant in February of 2014. He is also the current Vice-president for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 98.

Lieutenant John Schwenk, Jr. was born and raised in Lawton, OK. He attended MacArthur High School and obtained a degree from Cameron University. Schwenk began his career with the Lawton Police Department on May 3rd, 1999. He served in the Uniform Division for over 11 years. During that time, Schwenk was utilized for several years as a Traffic Officer. He attended Traffic Collision training as well as DUI enforcement training that included him accomplishing certification as a DRE (Drug recognition Expert) through IACP. The following year Schwenk became a DRE Instructor. Schwenk was also a member of the Department’s Bike Patrol Team.

In September of 2010, Schwenk became a Detective and was reassigned to the (CID) Criminal Investigation Division. Schwenk was soon designated as one of the Divisions Fraud/White Collar Investigators, primarily investigating those specified cases for about 2 ½ years, until he was designated as the Divisions Audio/Video Forensic Investigator. While in CID, Schwenk investigated all kinds of cases, ranging from Petit Larceny to Murder.

Schwenk is a member of the Departments Crisis Negotiation Team. He has also been utilized extensively as a Field Training Officer to help train new officers.
